Quality Control Council Of Canada Collective Agreement

The Quality Control Board of Canada (QCC) is the recognized negotiator for employees of subcontractors working in the non-destructive testing and Allied Work sectors. We negotiate a collective agreement with an employers` organisation and this contract has a national scope. Contracting Parties independent of the Signatory also agree to be bound by this Agreement. In early 1975, the NDT Contractors began their own organizing efforts and formed a central bargaining agency called the Nondestructive Testing Management Association (NDTMA). The first president was John Zirnhelt and the first treasurer was Gerry Pouget. In June of the same year, the first collective agreement between QCC and NDTMA was signed in Calgary. The B.C and Alberta provincial agreements expired and the new agreement was accepted. The QCCC is the negotiator for non-destructive technicians who inspect components under the jurisdiction of the International Boilermakers and United Association. The QCCC negotiates a national collective agreement with a group of employers (NDTMA). QcCC members are either members of the International Boilermakers or the United Association and are required to behave in accordance with the Constitution and statutes of the union to which they belong. These members are qualified in the following competences: while the applications had not yet been accepted before the BCLRB, the contractors concerned were contacted by the trade union representatives with an invitation to start collective bargaining.
