A very good friend of mine reminded me a few weeks ago about a very important “secret” to life. “Stay in the Moment”

We all have those days and moments when everything we do or touch just doesn’t quite work out right, or how you planned! Life has a different plan for us at that moment.
That flat tire when you are all dressed up and running late. The water heater that during the night decided to spring a leak. How about the classic, you are out in the rain and you’ve managed to stay somewhat dry and are waiting at the corner to cross the street….yup here comes that car or truck that hits that puddle and splashes you. You are running late for work, hop in your car and click….nothing! You have some really important computer work to do, you sit down, turn on your computer and it won’t boot up, your hard drive crashed. Any of these things can really test our patience, stress us out….even make us mad or we let them ruin our day! WHY????
For me these words “Stay in the Moment” and another favorite quote of mine, “Yesterday is History, Tomorrow is a Mystery, Today is a Gift…That is why it is called the Present“, remind me that despite what is going wrong, there is always something that is going right. My family is alive and in good health, I’m alive and just took another breath, a bird is singing me a song, or I look up and an eagle is showing me how to “soar”, I get to do what I love for a living, my granddaughter just made me laugh or just gave me one of those sweet hugs of hers. There is ALWAYS something that is going right, you just have to look for it! Kind of like nature itself, there is always beauty in some of the simplist things in life, we just have to “see” them!
So now as I’m writing this, an old song pops into my head……”Don’t Worry, Be Happy” by Bobby McFarrin. Hmmm, great idea!
Negativity and negative thoughts can consume us if we let them, DONT’s let them do that. I’m reminded again of another old song by the Moody Blues…..a quote from that song. “Face piles of trials with smiles, it riles them that you may perceive the web that they weave.”
No matter how bad things get, stay positive, keep those thoughts of positive energy going, the bad will pass and the good will come again! Remember that in this universe, Positive brings positive results, negative brings negative results! Personally I prefer the positive things in life.
I thought this was best represented by some of my favorite landscape photographs that I’ve taken in the past couple years. They remind me of natures gifts to us, they ask nothing in return, just to be enjoyed for their beauty. They also remind us to look for the beauty in every day life!
So quit stressing about life, and ENJOY life!
