Carrie and Abe – Engagement Portraits

Carrie, Abe and I met at Kent Park to take these. They used to go there quite often so it had special meaning for them. Speaking of special meaning, they met and worked together at Slims in Tiffen, Carrie used to live right across the street. Slims was the other location we went to.

They were a lot of fun to work with, thanks for choosing us as your photographer Carrie and Abe! We really appreciate it!

Kylie and Ryan – A Love Story

Kylie and Ryan couldn’t have picked a better day in July to have thier wedding. It was pretty darn close to being the perfect dream wedding. The slide show is just a small “sneak peak” of the great images we got July 18 at Kylie and Ryans beautiful wedding! More to come soon.

When I saw this image in my viewfinder, the clouds just seemed to be whiter and brighter around them, which to me was symbolic of thier love for each other and the positive energy that eminated from them as a couple.

Perfect weather, a couple willing to give us time to photograph just them, great personalities, outdoor ceremony by the lake at the Amana golf course with a beautiful view, appx 2 hrs before sunset so great light and the sun came out for the ceremony. There was a harpist and vocalist, a horse drawn carriage took them to the reception,appx 300 guests at the reception held in an the Amana Barn. Guests were from as far away as Mexico City. Just overall a beautiful wedding, and a beautiful couple!

A special thanks to Jaime Moquin and Greg Frieden for helping out with this one! Great teamwork! And of course a special thank you to Kylie and Ryan for letting us participate in thier specail day! Also thanks to Peter Bradley Adams for letting us use “Chant”

Sneak Peak- Jenna and Brandon’s Wedding

This is Jenna and Brandon, had the pleasure of photographing thier wedding last Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Kent Park! What a beautiful day it was, they couldn’t have special ordered better weather for an outdoor wedding! And Kent Park was the perfect setting!

This brings to mind though the importance of giving us photographers 10 to 20 minutes of your day to focus on just you, the couple! It’s not a lot of time and the results can be well worth the little bit of time spent. Believe me, you will cherish these images for the rest of your lives together!

These are the results of Jenna and Brandon letting us focus on them for a few minutes of thier day! All images are taken by me, unless otherwise noted. Thank you Jenna and Brandon for letting us participate in your specail day!

Image of Merit

Photoworkshop.com and Double Exposure Magazine recently announced the winners of thier Digital Imaging Competition. We were honored by receiving an Image of Merit Award in this competition. There were two categories for this competition, Photo Illustration and Straight Photography. Our image below was selected in the Photo Illustration category.

The judges for this competition were fine-art photographer/Adobe Photoshop expert John Paul Caponigro; and Straight Photography, judged by the Director of the George Eastman House, Tony Bannon.

An Afternoon with Grandpa!

This is my granddaughter Raquel. I feel like a kid again when she is around! Raquel has such wonderful blue eyes and has reminded me how important it is to take time out to remember and cherish the things in life that really count, family and quality time together! She’s just a little sweetheart, but then again, I’m biased. grin

The eyes are for me a reflection of one’s soul and nothing could be a finer soul then that of a child. Reflections of what they see in a way, if we look close enough maybe we can see the world from their view, a world that is totally free and new and full of adventure and imagination and free of discrimination.

She saw my doo rag laying around and had that wonderful childhood curiosity about what it was. Once I showed her it went on the head, she just had to wear it! And I just had to have a shot! This was shot in full sun mid afternoon, no fill flash, no reflectors. sun was just behind her and the house was acting as a reflector. Used the Canon 70-200 2.8 IS L lens which has become a favorite close up portrait lens.

Raquel

I absolutely love spending time with her, she is just a joy to be around. Love to watch her go exploring in my backyard and record these precious moments of my special times with her. It’s such a blessing to have her in my life!

She has a new baby sister Raven also who is now about 6 weeks old! More about her soon!

Sawyer
